Coronavirus Update

Exterior of The Mill Arts Centre

Last updated: 19th April 2021

Opening Times

From 19th April 2021, The Mill is open 10am-6pm, with the Café Bar open 12pm-4pm Monday-Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturdays for takeaway and outdoor refreshments.

Please note that The Mill is closed on Sundays.

Classes & Workshops

In light of the permitted return of schools and education to on-site learning, we are pleased to confirm that our in-person Education (Creative Learning) programme resumed as planned from Monday 19th April, on site at The Mill. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased on our website or by calling us on 01295 279002.

Students are welcome to purchase takeaway refreshments from the Café Bar to be consumed in the classroom. Please note however that refreshments may not be consumed in the Café Bar or Gallery area.

Live Events

We are delighted to see the start of the route to resuming our live shows and event programme once the government roadmap reaches step 3 – currently envisaged for 17th May. We are currently working closely with our family of producers and promoters to resume selected events in our programme that are able to proceed safely with a reduced capacity and socially distanced format.

We will be sharing details over the coming weeks of the events confirmed to go ahead from late May.

As the UK progresses along the roadmap, we will update regularly with further details, not least as we look forward to safely returning to fuller capacity events once we reach step 4.

Safety First

We’ve implemented a whole host of additional safety measures to protect our customers, students and staff once we’re able to re-open. This includes:

  • Additional regular cleaning schedules
  • Socially distanced room layouts – we’ve relocated larger class groups to our Theatre so there’s plenty of space to stay two metres apart
  • Building one-way/directional system and allocated toilet facilities
  • PPE for staff and tutors
  • Reduced class sizes
  • And an awful lot more…

If you would like to know more about the safety measures we’re putting in place, please contact our team at

When we re-opened in September, we introduced a whole host of additional safety measures. Find out what to expect from your visit to The Mill in this helpful video made by our brilliant Front of House team!
