Painting & Mixed Media (Autumn 26)

Be inspired and enjoy experimenting with mixed media, learning about different art styles and brushing up on art techniques to expand your creative horizons! Each week you’ll be guided through the work of famous art and artists, before creating your own work inspired by these new ideas. Projects are kept open enough for you to follow your own creative instincts and ultimately find your own style in a fun, friendly and supportive environment. Themes include the natural world, abstraction and ‘art to challenge perceptions’, in media including Mod-roc sculpture, painting & layered collage techniques, acrylic and watercolour painting. Exercises to up-skill your drawing and painting techniques will be weaved into the course and your tutor will always be on hand to help and guide you. All equipment and materials are included, but if you have a favourite brush set or other materials, feel free to bring them along.

This course takes place in the Lock Room which is accessible. The main entrance is level access. On your right, there is a button to open the automatic door to the Café Bar. Head forwards through the arch into the Gallery and turn immediately left. Straight ahead there is a single door (74cm wide) which leads into the Lock Room. Please be aware that there are low ceilings in this area. There are two pillars along the centre line of the room.

All adult courses are created in partnership with Abingdon and Witney College and co-funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency. As we are in receipt of government funding, students will be asked to complete an enrolment form and evaluation diary for monitoring purposes.
