About the Event
Create winter landscapes through drawing and collage in this one-day workshop. We’ll be looking at how winter environments can be imagined, remembered and felt – from snow, ice and shifting light, to atmosphere, colour and texture. The workshop encourages a mix of abstract and realistic responses, with plenty of opportunity to experiment and develop your own artwork.
In the morning we will explore materials and techniques, composition and processes, through a series of guided exercises. In the afternoon, you will create your own winter landscape, drawing on the techniques and ideas from earlier in the day. A selection of artist references and source images will be provided for inspiration.
Suitable for all levels, from beginners to those more experienced. Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own imagery, photographs or collage materials to use in your work or share with the group.
Two-week cut off: We recommend booking by Friday 13th November to guarantee your place.
This course takes place in the Art Studio. Please note that regrettably this room is not accessible to wheelchair users due to necessary fire evacuation regulations. The main entrance is level access. On your right, there is a button to open the automatic door to the Café Bar. Head forwards into the Gallery, turn right up the ramp and proceed through two sets of double doors (please note there is no automatic button to open these doors). Please be aware that there are low ceilings and low door frames in this area. Turn right and proceed up the stairs (six steps, a landing, and then seven steps). Proceed through the doors straight ahead, then another set of doors straight ahead, and turn right through another door into the Art Studio.
