In this structured one-day workshop you will experiment with using different types of wet and dry media. We will use acrylic paint, ink, soft and oil pastels, as well as a number of mono printing techniques to create expressive and modern works.
You will receive hand outs and advice on colour mixing, paint application and expressive techniques as well as guidance on developing your own practice using sketchbooks and dynamic exercises.

This course provides a concentrated dose of guided tuition for those who want to expand their painting practice and experiment with new techniques. It also acts as an introduction to contemporary landscape painting as we explore fast and loose approaches to getting information down on our surface.

During the morning session we will create several quick sketches using source material that focus on the interaction between wet and dry media, the creation of expressive marks and the application of paint in different consistencies. After lunch we will use these sketches as a starting point for some larger works, allowing you to move away from drawing directly from source material and towards working with your own emotional responses to create paintings that feel personal and exciting.
