The overarching theme of the day will be to capture atmosphere and mood by practicing an intuitive one-stage method, working with wet into wet until you have pushed the paint to its limits. Rachel will show students how to use a basic watercolour landscape palette whilst also incorporating modern granulating pigments.
This workshop will show you how to use watercolour in fun and expressive ways that focus less on detail and more on abbreviation and the impression of a place. For beginners, you will receive guidance on basic watercolour technique, such as colour mixing, and paint consistency and application. For those with more experience, Rachel will show you how to take your knowledge to the next level by interrupting your washes deliberately and incorporating experimental approaches.
