An original play by Hannah O’Donnell, presented by Multi-Award Winning amateur theatre company Banbury Cross Players

Puck warmly invites you to enter the woods with wide eyed wonder! An unforgettable World Premiere and directorial debut, Puck follows the familiar antics of our favourite fairies from William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. But with a modern twist or two!

Twenty years ago, in a forest outside Athens King Oberon and Queen Titania of the Fairies got into a little spat about what to do with their new changeling child. It resulted in Titania making out with a Donkey-Faced actor – and no one likes to talk about it. Now Anatole, named for the sunrise, is all grown up and looking to escape into the realm of mortals – who’s courage and bravery have inspired him to find adventure and true love (whatever that means!) in a world he’s never seen. In that same Athenian Forest, five teenagers are looking for fairies – having read the myths and legends, and looking for adventures of their own. But blood thirsty villains abound, as enchantments take root and the lines between mortals and fairies blur. The Redcap King has come for his revenge, with a will so dark it threatens them all…

And where is Puck? Oberon’s right hand mischief maker – well, he’s slap-bang in the middle of it! Join us for a contemporary twist on classical theatre, that doesn’t require any preliminary reading!
