We will study modern approaches to one of the most traditional of painting mediums by focusing on paint application, contemporary use of colour and mixed media techniques like using crayons, acrylic ink and watercolour mediums.
On day one we will create a number of quick and intuitive responses to landscape source material by using highly fluid paint that can be manipulated and moved whilst it’s drying. You will be provided with source material to work from but you may wish to bring in images of landscapes that provoke an emotional response in you.
On day two we will work slightly larger and you will be shown how to layer translucent colour to create vibrant and expansive paintings. You will be using big brushes and plenty of water so be prepared to move away from details towards abbreviated and spacious paintings.
All materials are provided, including a couple of special granulating colours though you may wish to bring your own brushes if you have them.
