Tom Rosenthal: Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I Am
The Arctic Monkeys’ debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, was released on January 23, 2006.
The record became the fastest-selling debut album in UK history at the time, moving over 360,000 copies in its first week. Tracks like ‘I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor’ and ‘When the Sun Goes Down’ became anthems, showcasing frontman Alex Turner’s sharp lyrics and observational storytelling.
Tom Rosenthal’s fourth stand-up show, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I Am, gets a preview in Angel on 6th January.
The one hour set from the Friday night Dinner and Plebs star is on sale now and could easily fail to sell out. Jokes like ‘Small Talk’ and ‘Daniel Radcliffe’ have been described as ‘not quite there yet’, showcasing Tom Rosenthal’s sharp nose and observational squawking.
Update 17/07/25: Due to illness, Joe Kent-Walters is unfortunately no longer able to perform and will be replaced by the hilarious Matt Forde.
Matt Forde is one of the country’s most in-demand satirists. Described as ‘our foremost satirical stand-up’ by The Sunday Times, Matt Forde has toured critically acclaimed shows nationwide including most recently Clowns To The Left of Me, Jokers To The Right in 2022 and Inside No. 10 in 2023.
